Lesson 6 of 8
Securitisation and selling loans
This lesson explains how a lender can fund itself by selling loans: outright to another institution, or by pooling them and selling securities backed by their repayments. It shows how tranches decide who bears losses, what has to be true for the risk to really leave the lender, and why rules make the seller keep part of the risk.
