Currencies and the authorities
How many yen the dollar and each Asian currency has been worth, over three months to ten years, set against its central bank's rate decisions and regulation news, and against what all of them shared. Below, a converter for many currencies at once.
How each currency moved, and what its authorities did

The line is how many yen the amount was worth: higher means more yen, a stronger currency and a weaker yen. The dashed line is the average move of all the other currencies here, drawn from the same starting point; "alone" is the gap between the two, the part the shared moves do not explain. This shows what happened at the same time, not what caused it. Rates: European Central Bank reference rates; the Cambodian riel from the National Bank of Cambodia's official rate, the Lao kip from the Bank of the Lao P.D.R. (its archive starts in 2018–2019) and the Vietnamese dong from the State Bank of Vietnam's central rate, each per US dollar and turned into yen at the ECB's dollar–yen rate of the same day.

European Central Bank reference rates, set once each working day at about 16:00 Central European Time. The Cambodian riel, Lao kip and Vietnamese dong come from their own central banks, through the dollar. They are reference rates, not the rate a bank or money changer will give you.
